Learning to distinguish between sounds is an important early literacy skill that is required for learning to read and write.
Kids can differentiate initial letter sounds in words as they become more familiar with letters and sounds. Teach your child how to detect beginning sounds first, then final sounds, and finally medial sounds.
In this activity, your students will learn how to identify the initial sounds (Sonidos iniciales) in words and improve their phonemic awareness skills by using these beginning sounds cards.
Students will say the picture's name, find the initial sound of each picture and show their answer with magnetic letters or an erasable marker.
During guided reading groups, I have my students pick a card and verbally tell me the pictures they see on the card, then find the initial sound of each picture and show their answer with magnetic letters or an erasable marker.
